Almost there

20 more days until the baby is due. It has been a long few weeks. I last posted that I was on bedrest and taking nifedipine because I was having contractions. Well I lasted about 3 days on the nifedipine until I couldn't stand the side effects anymore. It gave me a terrible headache and then i started getting nauseated and throwing up. So I stopped that medication but then two days later I was having cramping and contractions again so the doctor sent me back over to the hospital and they gave me a shot of terbutaline and sent me home with that medication. I was supposed to take it every 4 hours but I could barely stand it every 8 hours cause it made me jittery and shaky. So I lasted on that for about 3 days too- and didn't sleep for all 3 days because of how it made me feel. I was a huge wreck. It was an awful week and I thought I was going to go crazy or something. I just wanted to have the baby out so I didn't have to go through all those side effects. So I just dealt with the contractions after that and I think the doctor over reacted because the baby has stayed put. His head is just really low so that puts a lot of pressure on my lower uterus which i think was causing the irritation. It has just been a long few weeks because I have also been having a lot of back pain which keeps me up at night. Plus for some reason, I am now getting nauseated a lot and throwing up at times. I didn't realize that would come back at the end of my pregnancy. I am grateful that we didn't have problems getting pregnant but pregnancy has been so hard for me. I wish that I could say that I have loved it but I am counting down until it will be over. Although who knows when he is going to come. He could come anytime now but my mom says that babies don't come early in our family so I am just taking it easy and trying to entertain myself. I got tired of the bedrest thing a couple of weeks ago and just do as much activity as I can tolerate.
I did have a couple of really nice showers. My work friends were all so generous and bought us a car seat. And then my mom and sister threw a shower for me and we are pretty well set now. It was so nice to have all that support to help us get ready. We were surprised at how many gifts we have received. And I had several friends that drove a long way to be there at the shower. That meant a lot to me. My friend Cherish came over and spent a whole day helping me getting organized which was a huge help because I was feeling overwhelmed. So the room is ready and that was a huge relief.
There isn't much else exciting to report. I haven't done much but just take care of myself. I never know how I am going to feel each day. Ross has helped me so much and I am grateful to have such a supportive husband because like I said, this has not been an easy 8 months or so for me. He has two more weeks left of school before the summer break. I know that worrying about me has been distracting for him but he is just trying to finish strong.
So that is my update. Just trying to hang in there. Hopefully we will have baby pictures to post soon :)

Hang in there, the waiting part is never easy! I pretty much go insane and insist that my babies will come 2-3 weeks early because I am so done being prego, but that is never the case. :) Just try to rest up now, because there is no sleep afterwards! But it's all worth it in the end! I can't wait to see pictures.

We can wait until he is ready to see pictures of him! I am glad your feeling a little better. And I agree with you wanting him back in there when you are not getting to sleep! You can do it and it will be very nice to have Ross around all summer to help out.

I was just thinking about you today and pondering that I hadn't heard an update in a while. I say once you hit 38 weeks, beg your doc to strip your membranes. That's all it took for Ethan to be born. It's a cruel thing to be in PTL for weeks, and then go to term :P. Are you having late in the day puking of undigested food? Could be gastroparesis from all the pressure on your belly and the hormones. That's the same thing that happens to me, and why I wound up with a failed feeding tube then a PICC line. It'll get way better as soon as the baby comes out - that's the good news.

Hang in there!
